Galway Public Library has several special collections, primarily related to local history and interests.
The Dockstader Collection consists of books, periodicals, manuscripts and maps, which were collected by Kay Flickinger Dockstader throughout her life. Most of these items focus on Saratoga County and the Adirondacks, and are for in-library use only. The books which may be checked out by patrons are in bold print on the list. This collection was donated to the library by Erik and Julie Roy.
Our Local History Collection is housed in the Galway Lions Club Locked Cabinet and the Sophie Zynch Memorial Cabinet. Included are books by several of our local authors and earliest historians, some of the papers of Joseph Henry, guides to local cemeteries, and Galway high school yearbooks. There are also early newspapers, pamphlets, brochures, cookbooks and much more. It’s well worth taking the time to browse through these fascinating items and learn more about our community’s past.
Galway Public Library’s Digital Collection on the New York Heritage site contains photographs relating to the Donnan Farm area in Galway.
